BERLIN -- Ford Motor Co.'s German unit appointed its marketing boss, Bernhard Mattes, as its chief executive Thursday after his predecessor stepped down citing personal reasons.
Mattes, 46, previously deputy head of the management board, takes over at Ford-Werke AG from Rolf Zimmermann. He also remains head of sales and marketing, a company statement said.
The company gave no details on Zimmermann's reasons for resigning.
Ford-Werke is based in Cologne, where company founder Henry Ford laid the cornerstone for the original plant in 1930.
